Contender AppEffective Date: June 6, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Contender ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Contender (the "App").

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.

For any questions, contact us at: johnsig76@gmail.com

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Display name (chosen by you, required for leaderboard participation)
  • Optional account credentials (email/password or third-party sign-in via Google or Apple) if you choose to create an account
  • Challenge reflections and text you voluntarily submit within the App

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, the following data may be collected automatically:

  • Device identifiers and mobile device information
  • App usage data, including features accessed, time spent, and interactions
  • Challenge participation data (check-ins, streaks, XP, progress)
  • Crash reports and performance data
  • IP address and general location (country/region level)

2.3 Information from Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — backend database and optional authentication. Stores your account data, challenge progress, and leaderboard stats. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy
  • Firebase — crash reporting and performance monitoring. Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — app analytics and usage tracking. Collects anonymized usage data. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • RevenueCat — in-app purchase and subscription management. Processes purchase data and subscription status. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the App
  • Track your challenge participation, streaks, and XP progress
  • Display your name on leaderboards (only if you choose a display name)
  • Process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions via RevenueCat
  • Send you notifications about new weekly challenges (with your consent)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect and fix bugs and crashes
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Local Storage vs. Account Storage

By default, your challenge progress and stats are stored locally on your device. This means:

  • If you uninstall the App or switch devices, your data will be lost unless you have created an account.
  • Creating an account (optional) syncs your data to our servers via Supabase, allowing you to restore your progress on any device.

We will never force you to create an account to use the core features of the App.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With third-party service providers listed in Section 2.3, strictly for operating the App
  • With other users: your display name and leaderboard stats (XP, streak, invite count) are visible to other users if you participate in the leaderboard
  • If required by law, court order, or government authority
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Locally stored data is retained until you uninstall the App or clear the App's data on your device.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our third-party service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable law.

10. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Analytics and Opt-Out

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with the App. GA4 collects anonymized usage data. You can opt out of analytics data collection by adjusting your device settings or by contacting us.

On iOS, you may be prompted to allow or deny tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Denying tracking will limit analytics data collection.

We do not store your payment card information. Please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and the relevant app store's privacy policy for details on how purchase data is handled.
